Today I got to go running for the first time in a while! It was so great! (:
Running is one of the many things I love about spring. While I'm jogging along I love to just look at all the color! Today the grass was green, the sky was blue, and the flowers were all in bloom. The temperature was a perfect 60 degrees and there was a slight breeze.
One thing I did differently on my run today was when I got to the big hill I usually run up I decided to look down at my feet instead of up at the top of the hill. As I did this I was saying to myself "just me and the pavement" over and over in my head. I was surprised that I was able to keep up a better pace than I usually do on that hill and when I finally got to the top I wasn't desperate for a break.
I guess that this experience kind of helped build my belief in focusing on one step at a time. Because I focused on just putting one foot down in front of the other instead of how close I was to the top of the hill, I felt a lot more successful in the end.
Of course I knew I was climbing a hill but it was where I was at the moment, on this beautiful spring day, that counted most.
All I can say is you are way hardcore
ReplyDeleteIs that a compliment Kevin?
ReplyDeleteDaeNeese,
ReplyDeleteI have felt the same way. I just recently noticed when running up Timpview that looking down at my feet enabled me to keep my focus without the distraction of the anxiety of seeing the distance I still had left- going uphill. Focusing on the beauty, and the NOW really make it do-able. I agree with you again...we must be related! ; )
Way to go!
