I was thinking about
people that I admire and love today and I remembered that last week would have
been my Grandma Marjorie's 94th birthday.
My Grandma Marjorie
was the kind of woman that everyone loved. You couldn't help but love her. She
was this tiny lady who was always smiling and giving hugs. She was always there
to listen or lend a hand if you needed it, even when she was 90 years old. Every
birthday or any holiday anyone she knew, it seemed like to me, would receive a
card with a cute little note and, my favorite part, her signature on it.
When I was little I
would always say "Grandma Marjorie, when I grow up I want to be JUST LIKE
YOU!" And to this day I do. I really do want to be the kind of person who
is able to love anyone and everyone for who they are, like she did. I want to
be able to always keep my anger at a bare minimum like she did. I want to reach
out to my family and friends no matter how far away I am from them like she
did. I made a video for her funeral with a song in it that I think describes her to a T. It is
called "She"
by Cherie Call.
I am so grateful to
have had such an amazing example in my life. And though my card didn't quite
make it on time, Happy Birthday Grandma Marjorie.
I'll try this again...I've dittoed everything you said for years, but I think you'll beat me to being just like her. You're just her size! ; ) We are so lucky we know her the way we do. Our little honey bug in her puddle jumper, out creating fun and smiles where ever she went.
